Work History

Neil’s first job was working at JB’s restaurant in downtown Ogden and Skaggs drug store, while attending Ogden high school. After graduation, Neil worked for Wintle Construction and Golden State Castings. After returning from two years of service to his church, Neil worked for Ogden City’s Water Department from 1981 to 2002. Currently, he is the patent owner and inventor of ReadyMadeWater, an in-home fresh water storage system connected to an in-home plumbing system. For details, see www.ReadyMadeWater.com

 Political Experience

Neil has been involved in public service for over 40 years, beginning in 1972 (at the age of 13) by campaigning for Ron Rancher who served in the Utah House.  Neil served as a member of the Weber County Party Executive Committee as Treasurer for eight years, Senate District #18 Chair for eight years, and Legislative District #9 Chair for 12 years.  Neil was a candidate for Weber County Recorder in 1990 and 1994 and lost both elections by only 1% of the total vote. He was also a candidate for Weber County Commission in 1996. He served as a national delegate to conventions in 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2016. He was elected to the Legislature in 1999 and represented constituents of District #9 in the Utah State House of Representatives for six consecutive terms until December 2010.

Education

Neil Hansen graduated from Ogden High School in 1977, attended Weber State University,
Ogden-Weber ATC, and DATC. He earned his Grade 4 certification in water distribution and his Grade 1 certification in water filtration for the State of Utah.

Personal

Neil was born and reared in Ogden and has been a lifelong resident for more than 50 years. He is an active member of his local church and has served in many capacities. Neil Hansen has been married to Debbie Buhler Hansen for 36 years. They have eight children and 15 grandchildren.
